Former Paris Saint-Germain standout Lionel Messi is in his second season with Inter Miami in MLS. However, with his departure from the French capital and his age, the Argentine’s transfer value has dropped.

Messi won the Ballon d’Or and Leagues Cup during his stint with Inter Miami, but that isn’t stopping him from aging, which affects how outlets calculate these sums. As a result, there are changes.

Transfermarkt’s recent assessment of Messi’s market value at €30 million (£25m/$32m) reflects the changing dynamics of the football landscape. This decline, while significant, is a reasonable adjustment considering Messi’s advancing age and occasional injury concerns since he joined the United States.

“Messi remains the MLS star and, despite his age, is still one of the best footballers on the planet,” Transfermarkt Data Administrator North America Dominic Becker said. “But age is a factor, even for Messi. He has increasingly struggled with smaller injuries, and a downgrade was impossible to avoid.”

Messi participated in the initial three matches of the MLS season, netting three goals. However, the Inter Miami skipper has been sidelined for the following three games against Montreal Impact, DC United, and New York Red Bulls due to a muscle injury. In the previous season, he featured in six MLS matches but was absent for five due to injuries.
