We've got a packed night on the ice as more and more teams return to action from the All-Star break, and that gives us plenty of betting opportunities.
We'll keep it relatively simple and place just a pair of SGP wagers built on the expectations of goals. Here's to a winning night.
I'm willing to fade Dallas a bit here, a bet built moreso in what we've seen from Stars goalie Jake Oettinger of late. Oettinger has allowed 3+ goals in four straight, with three of those games seeing four or more goals.
Buffalo went into the break with some momentum they'd surely like to try and build on, scoring five goals in back-to-back wins. Skinner and Thompson have been a bit quiet for Buffalo, but I'm willing to back two of the Sabres best forwards when I see how consistent they've been against Dallas.
Skinner has a point in four of his last five against the Stars, while Thompson has a point in four straight meetings.
I'm rocking with a pair of teammate combos from the same game here and playing like so for +290. I see paths for goals from both sides and I'd like a piece of the players who seem most likely to get involved.
Montreal has allowed 4.6 goals per game over the past month on the road, so naturally I project Washington for 3+ goals here, especially considering seven of the past nine times these two have met they've reached that scoring threshold.
Alex Ovechkin and Dylan Strome both skate on Washington's top line, and they each recorded three points in the two most recent Capitals games we saw. More importantly, they love facing Montreal. Ovechkin has a point in eight straight meetings, tallying 12 in that span. Strome has a point in five straight against the Canadiens, with seven in all.
As for Montreal's scoring, that belief is primarily built around a power-play edge I see, a bright spot for this Habs offense before they went on break. Cole Caufield and Nick Suzuki are both on Montreal's top line and top power play, so there should be no shortage of chances for the two to combine on a goal.
Caufield has a point in five of six career games against Washington and is currently on a nine-game point streak. Suzuki has a point in nine of 10 career games against the Capitals and five in his last four games before the break.
