If a franchise-record-setting 2023 wasn't enough, linebacker Ernest Jones IV is ready for more.

Entering the final year of his rookie contract, Jones is ready to step into an expanded leadership role.

In 2023, Jones was uber-productive. He set a franchise record with 145 total tackles plus career-highs of 4.5 sacks and six passes defended. Now, he thinks he can get even better.

"I don't believe I played my best football," Jones said, via the Rams' official website. "There's a lot more in the tank. There's a peak that I don't think I've hit yet."

Contract years are always seasons when players choose to play some of their best football. For Jones, it will be no different.

After being voted a captain during the 2023 season, he wants to build on what was – seeking to become the best version of himself possible.

"I'm looking forward to this opportunity to lead this team," Jones said, but also looking forward to it from a personal standpoint that, play some good ball, you set yourself up real nice."

The bet is now on.
