Nick Senzel Expected to Play Prominent Role for Nationals

Former Reds top prospect Nick Senzel agreed to a one-year, $2 million deal with the Nationals earlier this month. Washington officially announced the deal on Tuesday.

The 28-year-old is expected to be the Nationals starting third baseman according to Mark Zuckerman of MASNSports.com. 

"Senzel says he was told by Davey Martinez the Nationals expect him to play third base every day," Zuckerman tweeted. "He can move around to other positions in-game if needed, but he's particularly excited to be able to focus on his preferred position."

The Reds took Senzel with the No. 2 overall pick in the 2016 MLB Draft. 

He appeared in 377 games over five seasons for Cincinnati from 2019-23, posting a .239 batting average with 33 home runs and 125 RBI.

Senzel struggled with injuries during his time in Cincinnati. Maybe focusing on one position will give him better injury luck moving forward.
