Russian pro-Daniil Medvedev is known for his fiery energy on the court, and it was on display once against Monte Carlo. Medvedev was once again caught exchanging a few words with the umpire over a conflict of thoughts over a decision.
During his first-round match against Gael Monfils, the Russian had some issues with a few line calls. The first time, Medvedev felt that the ball was out but was given in by the umpire. Out of frustration, the Russian even shouted at the umpire.
This in-or-out confusion occurred more than once, as the chair umpire had to get onto the field several times to check the call himself. Medvedev was right in one of those calls, but the other one had to be the umpire’s, as the ball was clearly in.
Despite such inconvenience, Medvedev had complete control of the match, not allowing his opponent to catch a break. In no time, Medvedev beat Monfils 6-2, 6-4 to seal his spot in the Round of 16 at the Rolex Monte Carlo Masters.

Nonetheless, there was not much harm done to the match, as the Russian took it home. He beat Gael Monfils in straight sets and followed it with an apology to the chair umpire. After the match, the Russian shook hands with the umpire and even exchanged a few kind words with him.
